4 day/ 3 night Uluru to Uluru camping tour package (30/09-03/10/2018) My friend and I just came back from our self-organised roadtrip from Melbourne to Adelaide and back. For our outback adventure we decided to book this tour as we thought it would be safer and better this way. If you want to see many things in a short period of time, tours are always good and worth the money. Also, driving in the outback can be quite boring so we were happy to give the responsibility to our bus driver. The camps were good and it was a great experience sleeping in a swag (Aussie bed roll). Toilets and showers were good as well as the tents. Food: Vegetarians/ vegans bring your own food! Even though we booked it in advance, the options were very limited and we were still hungry after each meal. When I asked for more/ alternatives (for example soy milk) I got an unfriendly response. It even happened that only 2 vegetarian patties for 3 non-meat eaters were offered and when we asked for another one, I was told that I should cook it myself because she was busy with other stuff. Food waste should not be forgot to mention. Unfortunately, I noticed it too late that after each meal everything was thrown away! If I knew this before, I would have packed myself some leftovers (e.g. rice) for the next day. It got better though and I noticed that they were trying to put more effort in it. I am a petite person and dont need much, but it was still not enough especially when youre hiking and on the go all day long. The host was not friendly, seemed that she didnt care at all and did not make us feel welcomed. After each meal she didnt give us time to sit and have a chat in the kitchen, it felt like once the last person had finished his/ her food, she directly told us to sit somewhere else so that she can clean up. Guide:I was surprised to hear that the guide was quite experienced and had been working for quite a bit. She didnt seem motivated, her knowledge about indigenous culture was okay but most of the information was, in my opinion, common sense. Also before hiking Kings Canyon, she gave us the impression that it was a super exhausting and dangerous hike...I would rather want my guide to motivate and push me. Transfer to the airport: Our flight was very early and we made sure to contact the agency before we booked the plane ticket to ask whether it was realistic to catch the flight. Weve been ensured that it was possible, but after being picked up 30 minutes late weve almost missed our flight and the bus drive to the airport was quite stressful. 4 day tour We did not realise that this 4 day tour was absolute nonsense for us. On day 3 we left our camp at 11.30 and drove 5 hours to Alice springs, where we were dropped off at our last accommodation (no dinner included). We then realised that we would be driven all the way back to Uluru on the following day, so again 5 hours of driving...if you can, book your flight back from Alice springs, book only the 3 day tour and dont waste 10 hours in a bus. I have payed a lot of money ($450 pp) for this tour but it was a disappointment. Especially in regards of food and the guides, I would have expected much more.
We did the Hermannsburg - Palm Valley 4WD tour. It allowed us to see fantastic places that would have been inaccessible to us otherwise. Guide Bluey provided a comprehensive historical and cultural background of the Alice Springs area.

Did the 1 day Uluru tour. It's a long day but worth it. The guide's/Drivers are great and really take care of you. Good food and plenty of it including snacks. Sights and the timing are all worked out so you get the best out of your time. Book them you will love it.
A well thought out group of products reflecting management who understand and ate from central Australia. The 1 day tour from Alice to the rock to Alice is probably the beat value way to visit Uluru among most of the tour operators and is staffed by very experienced guides with food local knowledge and years of driving behind them. Very assuring.
